Band 2 - 37.5 hours per week (full-time)

We are recruiting for Theatre Healthcare Assistant for the Croydon Hospital Elective/Emergency Surgical Centre,(Theatre departments).

The role will involve assisting the team of registered and non-registered Theatre Practitioners in the care of patients, which involves working both in Croydon Elective Centre and Emergency Surgical Centre of the operating theatres, as part of a multidisciplinary team.

**Please note**: Work flexibility in a challenging environment is required, as you will be part of the 24-hour cover for theatres, which includes weekends, bank holidays, and nights.

The duties of Theatre Healthcare Assistant is working in a busy environment are:
Assisting the surgical team of Practitioners in transferring of patients using Manual Handling technique Circulating for surgical procedures.

Dealing with specimens for the laboratory.

Escorting patients to the theatre unit prior to surgery if no ODO are available.

Escorting patient who had local procedure to the discharge lounge and handover patient to discharge nursing team by giving them detail of patient procedure.

Cleaning the theatre environment after patient surgical procedures

Rotating to the Emergency Surgical Centre, taking urgent specimens to the laboratory

Checking the Sluice rooms daily

Restocking theatres with disposable items on gratnell trolley daily.

Escorting patients from Theatre Admission Lounge to theatre for surgical procedures

Supporting the theatre practitioner in positioning patients on operating table, opening sterile instrument trays for the scrub nurse.

Clearing and cleaning the theatre equipment after each patient surgical procedure.

Support the theatre team in collecting surgical sterile instruments for the next day.
