Group Accountant

We have an exciting new role for a **Group Accountant** which will be a key role at the centre of the Connells Group.

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Specialist, this position sits in our Group Finance team based in Leighton Buzzard, with some travel to subsidiary finance teams across the UK.

This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Groups internal and external reporting as it continues to expand, and will support the entire Group Finance function, with particular focus on group oversight and controls.

**About You**

You’ll have a keen attention to detail as well as the ability to manage a busy workload and meet reporting deadlines.It’s likely you will have experience of working in a fast-paced environment, and you’ll certainly be someone who thrives under pressureand can prioritise your own workload.You will be a qualified accountant looking for the next step in their development at the heart of the Group Finance team in a large and complex organisation.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Implementing a program of controls and oversight across the Group.
- Review of key reconciliations across the Group including periodic site visits to subsidiaries
- Support with the accurate and timely production of Group regulatory reporting returns
- Support with the consolidation of Group Profit & Loss, Cashflow and Balance Sheet on a monthly basis
- Support a strong control environment within the core financial reporting team processes
- Review and update Group Accounting policies annually
- Ensure that every assistance is given to internal and external Auditors and that their agreed recommendations are employed
- Support the Group Finance team with half year and year end consolidation for statutory reporting.
- Manage projects to improve Group processes
- Manage and review Group Treasury processes
- Support with acquisition accounting

**Your experience and skills will include**:

- Degree level education or equivalent and professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Audit experience preferable
- High level of attention to detail
- Capable of working proactively and on own initiative
- An understanding of current accounting standards, practice and guidance.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Excellent Excel Skills.
- Experience with TM1 Planning Analytics consolidation software and SUN advantageous but not essential
