Pupil Care Assistant

We have a fantastic opportunity at in Newry for an experienced and interactive Pupil Care Assistant on a full time, permanent, term time only basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated carer to provide 1:1 support for a SEND student currently in KS2. This role will also involve working closely with the learning support assistant and Coordinator where necessary.
Key responsibilities:
- This 1:1 role is to support a child with a Statement of Special Educational Needs with complex, physical / medical needs. The student is 10 years of age and wheelchair bound with Spina Bifida.
- Provide support for all activities of daily living including eating and drinking
- To assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the pupil to whom you are assigned
- Provide intimate care by way of daily intermittent catheterisation process
- To enable to the student to make best use of the educational opportunities available to them
- Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area
- Build positive working relationships and links with parentsYou will:
- Have experience of working with children with complex care needs and on a 1:1 basis
- Be adaptable, resilient and have a desire to make a lasting difference to the lives of our students
- Be trustworthy and discreet maintaining confidentiality
- Be able to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these

**Salary**: From £24,000 to £26,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience
