The Royal Marsden Hospital requires a Restaurant Host for the catering department. This will include serving food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors.

Ensuring the efficient running of the coffee shop and restaurant by maintaining adequate stock levels, adhering to all cash handling procedures and ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in all associated areas.

To operate a ‘hands on’ Coffee Shop and restaurant service delivering a high quality service and product at all times to our customers.

Experience in similar role preferred.
- Service of food and beverages to customers, maintaining good portion control, and observing safe hygienic working practices.
- Preparation of sandwich platters and beverages for meetings.
- The co-ordination of sandwich platters, buffet items and beverages for meetings.
- To be responsible for the setting up, service and clearing of special functions as required.
- To be responsible for the recording of items consumed at functions and ensuring this information is recorded appropriately.
- General cleaning duties, as detailed by the Service Supervisor, of furniture, equipment and vending machines.

- Responsible for the security and recording of all cash and voucher sales.
- Ensure all food and beverage items are attractively presented via appropriate merchandising
- Order and receive daily food stocks from the catering stores ensuring appropriate stock rotation, and wastage is kept to a minimum, preferably nil.
- Recording stock movement of all items in the coffee shop on a weekly basis, in conjunction with the Restaurant Supervisor / Operational Manager.
- Ensuring sufficient supplies of sandwiches and pastry products are available and ensuring wastage is mínimal
- Organisation of daily duties to meet the service demands.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the Coffee Shop and associated areas at all times, via a cleaning schedule.
- Cleaning and replenishing of stocks of all vending machines, in conjunction with Restaurant Supervisor.
- Report all mechanical and / or fixture and fitting defects to the Restaurant Supervisor.
- Update all associated records for the coffee shop on a daily basis (for example, cleaning record, cashing up sheets, wastage sheets, requisition sheets).
- Liaise with the Restaurant Supervisor with regard to new product items, sales and marketing issues, new ideas or any problems that need to be addressed.
- Responsible for all temperature recordings that are made and recorded correctly.
- Receive training and attend courses as required.
- Maintain a neat and tidy appearance at all times, observing standards of personal hygiene as specified in the Food Safety (General Hygiene Regulation) 1995.
- Report any pest sightings to the Restaurant Supervisor.
