Under the leadership of Paul Kerryson, CEO, Buxton Opera House has become one of Britain's leading receiving theatres. Our programme comprises around 450 performances each year including dance, comedy, children's shows, drama, live music, pantomime and opera, whilst the recently opened Buxton Cinema in the adjacent Pavilion Arts Centre presents over 600 screenings each year. The Opera House is also home to the renowned Buxton International Festival, now celebrating its 40th year, as well as a lively Fringe Theatre and Community and Education Programme.

Job Title: Creative Learning Producer

Department: Creative Learning & Engagement

Reporting to: Head of Creative Learning & Engagement

**Position Summary**

This exciting new post has been generated as a result of Buxton Opera House gaining National Portfolio Status. The post holder will manage and deliver a range of outreach activities for all ages including schools workshops, after school clubs and community projects. The role will also require the postholder to run onsite workshops and tours, and assist with Summer Schools, the Young Company and an expanding 50+ and community programme. The postholder will additionally work alongside the Local Cultural Education Partnership and Heritage Action Zone to cultivate relationships and coordinate project work in the community.

The postholder will need experience in workshop delivery, and a background in performing and/or visual arts.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To design and deliver exciting and inclusive Creative Learning and Engagement activities.
- To nurture relationships with schools and arts partners across the High Peak.
- To establish, manage and deliver Satellite after school clubs.
- To work closely with the staff teams of Buxton Opera House and Buxton International Festival to develop joint initiatives.
- To be a key member of the Creative team for Summer School productions and Young Company shows.
- To deliver weekly workshops as part of the Young Company and Community programme.
- To work with the Head of Creative Learning and Engagement and the Creative Learning Director to develop and deliver work experience and training opportunities.
- To encourage inspiring and innovative engagement with all aspects of contemporary and classical theatre, dance and music.
- To take responsibility for children’s licensing within the Creative Learning and Engagement department.
- To prepare schools resource packs for in-house shows and co-productions.
- To prepare and manage Creative Learning and Engagement project budgets.
- To provide reports, including the gathering of statistics, that can be presented to the Board, funders and other stakeholders as required.
- To monitor, document and evaluate projects for the organisation and all stakeholders.
- To undertake any additional tasks as may reasonably be required from time-to-time.

It is a requirement that all staff work in a flexible manner compatible with their jobs and in line with the objectives of the company. The Creative Learning Producer will be required to work weekends and evenings from time-to-time for which time off can be taken in lieu. - Experience of working in an arts and/or learning based organisation.
- Experience of multi-tasking across projects.
- Experience of delivering work with schools, young people, adult learners and across community settings.
- **Skills and Knowledge**_
- Ability to liaise, network and build positive relationships with a wide range of people and groups from small community groups to professional agencies and statutory bodies.
- Ability to lead workshops in schools/community settings.
- Ability to use IT, computer and digital platforms, including social media.
- A practical knowledge of theatre and/or another arts based discipline.
