Deputy Educational, Workforce and Staff Wellbeing

Clinical Provide clinical area support and supervision for staff/learners undergoing specific training, or who have specific learning needs, assisting in the development of clinical competence Support managers, preceptors and newly qualified staff in the process of transition from learner to qualified member of staff Liaise with ward managers regarding individual personal development plans and identification of learning needs of their staff Ensure capability issues are identified and to provide support to relevant clinical managers and individuals through this process. Assisting in the development of action plans, providing support for the individual performance review process; providing documentary evidence to support the process Undertake clinical shifts on a pro-rata basis to maintain own clinical competence and understanding of the clinical environment. At least 20% of your working time should be supernumerary clinical shifts Working as an expert clinical practitioner, be a visible point of contact on a daily basis and act as an expert resource for staff and students working in practice Help in the development of clinical guidelines, protocols and patient care policies and procedures using best practice guidelines Managerial Deputise Operational Lead for Education in managing, leading and developing an effective education team. Be responsible for developing and delivering an education strategy for the division and in conjunction with Ward manager/matron complete training needs analysis.
Contribute to Band 5 recruitment and retention strategies within Medicine Division. Provide training and education across the division to Nursing Staff. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of all learning interventions. Lead on Divisional Staff Wellbeing and work closely with the Operational Lead for Education, Divisional Leadership Team and Divisional People Committee.
Contributing to the Directorates Business Plans. Participate in peer review and evaluation. Be actively involved in ensuring that the environment is conducive to the learning and development of staff. Participate in the selection and appointment of students and newly qualified nurses as required.
Collate precise information evaluating the effectiveness of the Education provided and write and disseminate reports as required. Be aware of resource management and associated funding streams. Participate in the delivery of hospital wide education programmes. Lead on the process for gaining accreditation for speciality courses run by medicine division.
Lead the team in areas of education planning and programme development e.g. ACS OSCEs, Induction Programme, Simulated Patients etc. across the division. Professional Be a visible presence in clinical areas demonstrating exemplary standards of clinical care and education, promoting the implementation of evidence based practice and inter-professional learning.
Be actively involved in ensuring that the environment is conducive to the learning and development of staff. To proactively participate in clinical supervision as a supervisee and as a supervisor for ongoing professional development and to provide support for newly registered staff. Maintain and develop ones own professional knowledge and expertise to meet PREP/CPD and role requirements. Develop and enhance own experience and skills in the process of formal teaching and assessment.
Practice in a professional, competent manner in accordance with the Code of Professional Practice and those of the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times. Report complaints, incidents and accidents in line with Trust incident reporting process. Communication Provide communication with new staff between appointment and start date to foster good relations and to ensure recruitment is successful.
Ensure effective communication takes place with the relevant managers regarding individuals progress and competencies. Provide effective written and verbal feedback on performance, handling sensitive and confidential information as per information governance guidelines. Able to sensitively manage situations where students/staff are failing in clinical practice. Be responsible for effective communication between the ward and university and other relevant educational providers.
