OcuPlan (majority owned by Simplyhealth) was founded in 2019 by leading consultant ophthalmologist Dan Calladine. Its purpose is to help end avoidable sight loss for the 7.5m people living with long term eye conditions in the UK. Through our industry leading software, we enable our network of opticians and consultant ophthalmologists to collaborate and provide the gold standard of clinical care to patients living with conditions such as glaucoma, AMD and diabetic retinopathy.

Unfortunately, many of these patients aren’t currently receiving sufficient care to prevent avoidable sight loss. The increasing strain on the NHS has led to a postcode lottery of increasing waiting times whilst the prices of traditional private care have become increasingly inaccessible to the majority of the population. OcuPlan provides affordable and accessible care to enable patients to be seen regularly enough to protect their sight.

OcuPlan operates as an agile start up, but the backing of Simplyhealth provides access to both funds and expertise that are rarely accessible to most start-ups. Simplyhealth aims to become the second biggest brand in healthcare in the UK after the NHS, OcuPlan will be a core pillar towards that aim and a demonstrable example of how shared care can work to both improve consumers access to healthcare and take pressure off the NHS.

To help us achieve this incredible goal, we’re looking for a Head of Product for OcuPlan to set the Product strategy. You will be responsible for creating the product roadmap in collaboration with senior leaders to drive growth and have P&L ownership and accountability. You’ll generate and leverage consumer, professional and clinical insight to drive the business forward and lead the thinking for how the business needs to evolve, working with internal and external partners to define the proposition and product for consumers, opticians and consultant ophthalmologists.

Reporting to the General Manager (GM) for OcuPlan you’ll work collaboratively and cross functionally to bring new product iterations rapidly to market and define the KPIs and MI to accelerate the evolution of the business. You’ll define the customer experience to maintain our 5* customer ratings and 97% retention rate and drive appropriate upsell and advocacy through the product suite.
