Volunteers are essential to the ongoing success of the National Trust. In this role, you'll be responsible for the day to day management and engagement of our Volunteers at the North Norfolk Coast and Broads.
Alongside this, you'll be responsible for developing connections with the local community and engaging new audiences with our work.
What it's like to work here:As part of the Visitor Experience team, you'll support the Norfolk Coast and broads team across a number of sites around Brancaster, Blakeney, Morston, Stiffkey and Horsey. This will include Blakeney Point, which is home to England’s largest grey seal colony and internationally important tern colonies that use the point as a breeding ground in the summer. As well as Horsey Windpump, an iconic landmark in the Norfolk Broads.
You'll manage volunteer recruitment and management, across the portfolio, working with property colleagues in the Ranger, Facilities and Visitor Experience teams to develop a volunteering plan for the portfolio ensuring our volunteering offer grows and develops alongside our property aims and ambition.
You’ll seek opportunities to connect the local community and other groups with our work for nature and understand their needs too.
What you'll be doing:You will be managing the development and delivery of this portfolio’s strategic plan for volunteering and communities, alongside the property leadership team. Managing and embedding change whilst widening and deepening our relationships with existing and new audiences.
You will also increase the confidence and capability of others whilst creating a collective, flexible and inclusive environment for existing & future volunteers, communities and partners.
You'll be involved in all aspects of volunteering recruitment, management, and support. Maintaining systems, creating opportunities for new volunteering roles, identifying needs for corporate volunteering, and ensuring people have a voice and an opportunity to share skills.
You’ll engage and respond to our communities and partners, sharing and finding ways to work together.
Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you, if you have:
- Understanding and good practice of volunteer management
- Understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working
- Practical and successful experience of developing and implementing new products and approaches to volunteers
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Ability to coach and support those managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners
- Strong communication skills
