**What you'll be doing**
As a **Junior Buyer**, you will have the following accountabilities:

- To support the procurement and supply chain management activities for the Ground Engineering business.
- Working closely with the Senior Buyer for Ground Engineering, the role will support obtaining of pricing and availability for tender activity and the procurement of materials for the project. This is an operational, ‘hands on’, tactical role in a fast-paced environment with short lead-in times, so we are looking for someone who thrives in this type of dynamic and demanding environment.
- Activities will include preparation of RFQ’s /ITT’s for both customer tenders and live projects, management and evaluation of returns, and making sourcing recommendations to award contracts. The individual will be required to manage specific supply chains to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement to support Contract and Business Unit key objectives.
- The role has a requirement to build upon existing supply chain capacity and expertise, develop relationships with new suppliers where appropriate and embed collaborative working internally with the core businesses.
- This role needs a credible ‘doer’ with the ability to influence to win hearts and minds, whilst focussing on exceeding service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service, with a good understanding of customer requirements and process efficiency.

**Who we're looking for**
The following qualities/experience are required:

- An awareness of how to run end to end procurement projects from market research, through sourcing, to contract and supplier management
- Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against bid / project milestones
- Some exposure to negotiating commercial deals and contractual terms and conditions advantageous
- Analytical, numerically astute with well-developed problem-solving abilities
- Basic awareness of commercial and financial risks and how to manage them
- Comfortable with having to quickly learn and work with new processes and IT systems
- Ability to use own initiative to identify areas of improvement and propose solutions
- Able to prioritise - with support - a challenging workload of competing prioritise
- Highly customer focused and desire to meet and exceed customer expectations
- Experience of Oracle R12 or other ERP systems and Jaggaer e-procurement platforms advantageous; however, training can be provided if applicant has no experience of these
- Studying towards CIPS/willingness to undertake CIPS equivalent qualifications would be an advantage, but is not essential
