Senior Cloud Analytics Engineer

**The role**

To achieve this goal, we have launched our Data and Analytics strategy which introduces a preconnected, 360 view of data to power company wide analytics and embed datafocussed decision making from every seat. Through the creation of our single version of data truth, we ensure that all data used for decision making is accurate and fit for purpose, building trust in reporting and provide client intimacy.
As a senior cloud analytics' engineer you will have a passion for turning data into information and insights which enable our business users to make more informed decisions in every function. Utilising our data analysis technologies, you will use your expertisein creating visualisations and analytical views that bring the data to life for the users. You will also support our ambition to create a self-service data mining environment. You will have the autonomy to create a self-service reporting strategy providingthe necessary training for our users and investing in technology that makes mining data easier for the less technically savvy users.

**Key accountabilities**
**Strategy and Planning**
- Contribute and shape the Data & Analytics Strategy making sure that we are embracing tech and data to support our user's demand for insights and more informed decision making
- Contributes to functional strategy development and prioritises the operational deliverables and activities of team to support delivery of overall business targets.
- Contribute to the delivery of our analytics strategy, enabling all user's with the capability to access data and insights for decision making.
- As an analytics leader, create the global standards and principles for delivering consistent UI designs and tools across all analytics engineers
- Support our ambition to become a top quartile analytics company, recruiting top talent in all locations delivering high quality, strategic analytical tools
**Policy, Process and Procedures**
- Support the design and delivery of the analytics infrastructure on Azure, with a focus on Synapse, Power BI and deliver of the analytical data layer built on our single version of truth
- Co-Create the engineering standards for the analytical data sets and reports to ensure consistent delivery of analytical products across
- Reviewing user requirements, lead the design of all User Interface designs in Power BI including the guidelines for using the appropriate visualisations to match the insights use case.
- Explains technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members.
- Reviews end product with the client to ensure adequate understanding and confirmation the deliverables meet user acceptance criteria before production.
- Provide data analysis, engineering, data model, and data management guidance the rest of the engineering unit
- Ensures that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse.

- Deliver a cost-effective, performant data services to contribute to Group profitability and business performance.
- Participate in both large
- and small-scale projects for the design, transition, and operational activities associated with the delivery of new or existing data assets or services to the user community.
**Skills & experience**
**Knowledge And Experience**
- Good knowledge of Data Governance and Data Architecture processes and standards
- Knowledge and awareness of technology services which could the data and analytics space
- Deep knowledge of data modelling for analytics - i.e. Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Data Mesh architecture
- Aware of data science methodologies and frameworks
- Excellent understanding of Agile frameworks and processes
- Deep understanding of the architecture discipline, processes, concepts, and best practices
- Sound knowledge of problem analysis, structure analysis, and design techniques
- Strong understanding of underlying needs of the business and how own role contributes to these.
- Business and financial awareness of the impact of Service Levels and any associated failures
- Expert knowledge in building cubes
- Specific professional qualifications at the level of degree or equivalent (e.g., computer science, management of information systems or similar).
- At least 7 years of experience as a senior Analytical engineer and design experience in the Microsoft tech stack including on Azure cloud.
- Expert in creating visualisations that support decision making
- Experience within Financial Services (especially Insurance)
- Qualified within own personal discipline, with extensive post-qualification work experience to include:
- Evidence of supporting technical and operational strategy.
- Working as part of a senior team within a complex organisation (preferably within financial services industry)
- Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
