The post The locum consultant will share in the provision of outpatient clinics, including remote access clinics, in lipid disorders and metabolic bone disease. There will be three outpatient clinics per week. The successful applicant will join the other consultants to provide advice on the management of biochemical abnormalities in inpatients within RLBUHT and AUH and also provide advice and guidance to General Practitioners on a one in four rota. Main Duties 1.

To provide a clinical advisory service for Clinical Biochemistry in the Blood Sciences Department of Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LcL). 2. To share responsibility at consultant level in the metabolic bone disease and lipid outpatient clinics. 3.

Providing consultant level clinical and training supervision of medical and other staff associated with the unit. 4. Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, the post-holder will be expected to observe the Trusts agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the Trust. 5.

All medical and dental staff employed by the Trust are expected to comply with its Risk Management and Health and Safety Policies and with the guidelines of the General Medical Council, Good Medicine Practice. Clinical Governance The post holder will be expected to follow national governance standards as set out in the Healthcare Commission document Standards for Better Health. In addition, the post holder will actively participate in the Trusts clinical governance strategy. Consultants are expected to provide a lead for and undertake quality improvement and clinical audit.

The post-holder will be required to comply with the principles of research governance and Caldecott requirements.
