ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR

**Purpose and Scope of Role**:
Supporting more senior Quantity Surveyors in undertaking a range of QS activities covering all aspects of cost consultancy. You will further develop your quantity surveying capability in pursuit of progressing to a full Quantity Surveyor role.
**Main Responsibilities**:
The main responsibilities of your role include, but are not limited to:
**Task Specific/Technical**
- Undertaking measurement and billing of quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement relevant to your sector, e.g. MMHW, CESMM, NRM, etc.
- Preparing comprehensive preamble notes to support measurement/bills of quantities, including details of information used and assumptions made when undertaking measurement tasks
- Codifying measured works items to prescribed cost and work breakdown structures and the like
- Collecting, analysing and reporting cost data, including taking actions to address source data errors, omissions and inconsistencies
- Collating and managing contemporary records
- Assisting in the preparation of estimates and cost reports including the collation of supporting documentation
- Assisting in the production of tender documentation, supporting the tender process including financial assessment and the preparation of Tender Reports to the client with appropriate supporting documentation
- Assisting project teams in the contract administration and commercial management of projects, including:

- Budgetmonitoringandforecasting o Processinginterimpayments
- Costauditing
- Change management
- Progress monitoring and reporting
- Actively supporting teams in the timely delivery of commercial management and assurance deliverables
- Assisting senior team members with the legal and contractual issues on projects
- Document management and control, including the maintenance of registers and schedules
- Arithmetic and other basic checking of work undertaken by others
- Working to budgets and timescales as agreed from time to time with senior managers
- Attending client meetings and presenting findings including obtaining feedback and making recommendations for continuous improvement
- Supporting and working collaboratively with the wider team, including trainees who may be working closely with you
- Attending client engagement events
- Satisfactorily undertake all other reasonable tasks assigned to you by the business

Education / Professional Qualifications:

- A minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade 4 (or equivalent) to include English, Maths and Science
- Preferably degree educated in a relevant discipline (min 2.1), together with demonstrable relevant experience gained within a similar role
