Edinburgh University Press is a thriving academic publisher, producing around 300 new books and 56 new journals each year, with an emphasis on the Humanities and Social Sciences.

We are looking for a Data Cleansing Administrator to join the team at our Edinburgh office on a part-time, 12-month contract.

Reporting to the Project & Change Manager, you will play a key part in an ongoing strategic project to implement new Title Management and Customer Relationship Management Systems. You will be responsible for supporting the project team in drawing together the Press’s existing data from multiple sources; cleansing and enriching it to ensure it is accurate, complete and consistent; and migrating it successfully to the new systems.

The contract is for a minimum of 40 hours per month, but with more hours expected to be available at peak times within the project (particularly in the first few months of the role).

**Key Activities**
- Collaborating with project team members to identify data quality issues, and to define and plan the activities required for data cleansing and enrichment
- Manipulating and linking data from multiple sources using shared unique identifiers to create a single complete dataset
- Preparing and formatting data to match set templates, ensuring that data is mapped to the correct locations
- Identifying and removing duplicate records
- Identifying gaps in datasets and supporting the project team to locate missing information
- Supporting the project team in planning and conducting user acceptance testing for the migration of data into new systems
- Monitoring and validating data cleansing and enrichment activities to maintain a high quality of data and ensure that the risk of the introduction of errors is kept to a minimum
- Working closely with suppliers and project team members to support the identification and resolution of technical challenges related to data extraction, transformation, and loading processes
- Supporting the configuration of new systems to meet the requirements of the Press
- Using system tools and reporting functionality to improve data quality and consistency
- Supporting project team members in the documentation of new system processes
- Supporting the project team in the administration and delivery of systems-related projects
- Reporting on progress against tasks to the project team and wider Press

- Essential_
- Has advanced knowledge of Excel
- Has experience of working with large, complex data sets (tens of thousands of records with hundreds of fields)
- Has experience of working with data in XML formats
- Can evidence the ability to quickly learn and work with new systems
- Is conscientious with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to process and understand complex information
- Is logical, methodical and thorough in approach
- Is creative, with problem-solving skills
- Is able to work collaboratively, with experience of working within a project team
- Is able to maintain focus and remain motivated when working alone on a task
- Desirable_
- Has knowledge of the publishing industry and related data formats (ONIX and JATS)
- Is able to work from EUP’s Edinburgh office at least half a day per week
