The post is based in the Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre at the Hammersmith Hospital, which is the largest renal and transplant centre in Europe. The Trust Fellowship is 90% clinical, with exposure to all aspects of renal and transplant including vascular access, PD work, live donor work cadaveric transplantation and SPK surgery.The post will be for 6 months, but may be extended further. For this post some surgical experience is essential and the post would suit those looking to develop skills and understanding of renal transplantation and vascular access surgery.

A timetable is put in place for every week, distributing evenly the duties of the week to the 6 more senior transplant and dialysis access surgery trainees. The table below is indicative of the various activities the appointee maybe allocated to, but not absolute and can vary with rotas and demands on the service and staffing levels.

The appointee is expected to engage actively in contributing / organizing various activities as above, depending upon interests and availability.

On call

The fellow will join a rota with the existing SpRs and Fellows covering the renal middle-grade on-call. The on call supplement is 50% (band 1a) during clinical block, which works out overall as 37.5% of basic salary. It is complaint with European working time rules and is regularly reviewed
