Role Purpose

Our Retail Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing lines of products on behalf of PLouise. It is a key role for the business as without it, we will simply not have the right levels of stock available to our customers. We need quality and variety in our products and so the right person for this role will have an impressive level of attention to detail and will be comfortable negotiating with our suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.

This is a key role within PLouise to ensure we have the right levels of stock to satisfy customer demand so that we can deliver a high-quality product and service whilst continuing to facilitate our impressive rate of business growth.

**Role Objectives**:

- Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends within our industry sector
- Evaluate supplier options according to prices, quality etc. and determine the best choices for partnering with PLouise
- Discover and purchase new products and check the quality and popularity of those already on our shelves
- Negotiate terms of agreements to achieve the best deal for PLouise
- Ensure the timely delivery of products and compliance with the contracts of purchase
- Monitor stock levels and make plans for buying within budget
- Create reports on sales, budgets and customer satisfaction and adjust our strategies accordingly
- Forge and maintain trust relationships with suppliers to promote fair dealing in all of our interactions
- Attend events, fairs and exhibitions to remain up-to-date with the market’s trends and participate in promotional activites as required
- Liaise with other departments within the organisation to ensure projects are completed

**Your knowledge, skills & experience**:

- Proven experience as a retail buyer or relevant role, ideally within an e-commerce organisation
- Excellent organisational skills
- Must have effective negotiation skills
- Have current knowledge of purchasing best practices
- Demonstrate familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of purchasing software (e.g. SpendMap) is an advantage
- BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field will be an advantage but not essential
