An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Charpentier Group at the John Innes Centre, working on cutting-edge science in the field of Cell and Developmental Biology.

**About the John Innes Centre**:
The John Innes Centre is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant and microbial sciences. We nurture a creative, curiosity-led approach to answering fundamental questions in bioscience, and translate that knowledge into societal benefits. Our strategic vision, _Healthy Plants, Healthy People, Healthy Planet_,_ sets out our ambitious long-term goals for the game changing impact of our science globally.

**About the Charpentier Group**:
The Charpentier group focus on understanding the signalling network controlling endosymbiotic interactions between soil microbes and crops to achieve higher crop yields with less fertilizers use. The overall aim of the project is to characterize a key novel signaling process that enabled arbuscular mycorrhiza and nitrogen fixing bacteria to colonize plants.

**The role**:
Working as part of a team led by Dr. Myriam Charpentier you will expand on the recent discovery of a novel positive regulator of endosymbioses signaling. The successful applicant will be able to creatively explore the function of this regulator at the interface of both arbuscular mycorrhiza and nitrogen fixing bacteria colonization. They will benefit from a highly interdisciplinary and international environment, with outstanding institutional support, and will have opportunity to develop technical skills in cell biology and crystallography.

You will have or be close to finishing a PhD in plant microbe interactions, plant signaling, or plant proteomics. Previous experience in standard molecular technics (e.g. GoldenGate, genome editing) and proteomics (e.g. co-IP, LC-MS/MS, ITC) is essential, proficiency in microscopy analysis would be advantageous but is not essential.

**Additional information**:
Interviews will be held on 27 February 2024.

We are an equal opportunities employer, actively supporting inclusivity and diversity. As a Disability Confident organisation, we guarantee to offer an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for this vacancy. We are proud to hold a prestigious Gold Athena SWAN award in recognition of our inclusive culture, commitment and good practices towards advancing of gender equality. We offer an exciting, stimulating, diverse research environment and actively promote a family friendly workplace. The Institute is also a member of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme.
