**Job Title: International Foundation Year Maths Tutor**

**Department: Pathways**

**Reports to: Director of Studies / Academic Programmes Manager - Pathways**

**Hours of Work: Full Time (16 hours teaching per week) Part Time (4, 8 or 12 hours teaching per week), plus marking, planning and course admin**

**Working Pattern: depends on contract but Mon-Fri 8am-8pm**

**Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract**

**Location: BSC Central London, Chancery Lane, London**

**Salary Range: £28,000- £33,000 per annum pro rata**

**PURPOSE OF ROLE**:
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Teaching the NCUK International Foundation Year Maths for Business Module
- Designing course materials and formative assessment materials
- Setting and marking formative assessments on NCUK online system
- Marking summative coursework and giving timely feedback on drafts and final submissions
- Marking formative and summative exams on NCUK online system
- Reporting to NCUK on exams and coursework (completing markers reports)
- Taking part in standardisation to ensure our marking is accurate
- Completing weekly and monthly reports on the students’ progress
- Attending team meetings, and student meetings
- Providing additional material and resources to students who may require additional support

**EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:

- A relevant academic qualification at UK graduate level (Essential).
- Relevant teaching experience (Essential). Normally a minimum of two years. This experience should relate to the delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies. Significant teaching/programme management experience at a reputable university may also be acceptable.
- The ability to contribute to integrated teaching across the curriculum (Essential).
- An understanding of UK/western higher education and the needs and requirements of international students (Essential).
- Direct experience of further and higher education in an international context (Essential).
- Specific experience of education in the UK (Desirable).
- Experience of the development of academic programmes (Desirable).
- Experience of academic assessment and standards, and of quality assurance procedures (Desirable).
- Experience of teaching non-native speakers of English (Desirable).
- An understanding and appreciation of private sector education (Desirable).
- Experience of living and working in the UK (Desirable).
