Design Administrator

Our client is one the world’s largest OEM manufacturers with several sites worldwide including a large production facility in the North East. They are looking for a Design Administrator to join their established team based in Birtley on a permanent basis.

This role could be suited to an experienced Design or Technical Administrator however training can be provided therefore someone with strong administration skills gained in a manufacturing environment will also be considered.

**About the Design Administrator role**
- Preparation of Technical Construction Files (TCF) (this is the process of gathering technical information in such a way to confirm compliance with regulations).
- Control the use of Safety Check Sheets. These are used by Design Engineers to ensure products are developed in accordance with regulations and standards. This role would require management and communication of new and updated check sheets and offering guidance to Design Engineers as to which check sheets to follow.
- Conversion of Parts Book data to new ‘GPAS’ system format.
- Control of technical documentation (eg. Assembly drawings, Liaison Lists, Procedures).
- Programming the product configurator. This is the BaaN ERP software module which controls the machine Bill of Materials dependant on the customer selected options.
- The role will also periodically include delivering small improvement projects and upgrades to procedures and systems.

**About You**

The successful Design Administrator will be:

- Keen to learn about construction machinery structure and safety requirements.
- Comfortable working with MS Office and have a keen interest or experience in computer programming or macro writing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer programming or Macro writing skills would be a benefit as part of this position is to program the product configurator. Specific training will be provided in the actual software but understanding of programming logic is essential.
- Developing documentation and Department Procedures to constantly improve.
