Job Title: Gardner / Maintenance

Responsible To: Nurse Manager / Proprietors / Director

**EXTERNAL DUTIES: ~**

1. Maintain all external grounds, fencing and garden tubs i.e., cutting hedges, trees, shrubs, and grass and replacing plants, as necessary.

2. Check manholes and guttering and where possible clear any blockages including drainage.

3. Maintain ride on lawn mower and other equipment used for external use.

4. Keep outside entrances clean and ensure sills are free from cobwebs.

5. Dispose of all refuge appropriately.

6. Ensure generator is run and services required by inspection unit.

**INTERNAL DUTIES: ~**

1. Check the fire alarm system and report, as necessary, any faults.

2. Maintain all equipment e.g., Laundry, Kitchen, Nursing & Office to a safe standard as far as possible.

3. Record water temperatures and ensure all necessary adjustments are made.

4. Check all electrical equipment in the Home and equipment that is brought into the Home, keeping a record of same and updating records as needed for board inspections.

5. Ensure the light bulbs are changed and an adequate supply is kept in storage.

6. Ensure insect repellants + light covers are cleaned and checked in agreement with Domestic & Kitchen staff.

7. Assist with movement of furniture as requested.

8. Decorating and maintaining rooms are requested.

9. Facilitate nursing staff with G. P. messages and samples to Health Centre.

10. Be available for emergency call out.

11. All records must be kept as required by the Regulation & Quality Improvement Authority.

Health & Safety regulations should always be adhered to and any dangerous jobs e.g., high hedges etc. should only be attempted with assistance.

As part of your employment, you may be required to work on the employer’s other premises. Notice will be given re same.

This is intended as a brief outline of duties and will be revised intermittently to meet service needs.

Note: Prior experience in general maintenance is required.

Pay: £11.44-£11.45 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 20 per week
