**The Post**

**Description of Duties**
- Examining alcohol industry market and corporate political activity in low and middle income countries, including policy, marketing, and corporate social responsibility
- Analysis, evaluation and documentation of national, local or community action or alcohol policy processes, implementation and outcomes in the global South, fostering context-specific approaches and South to South learning
- Examining current and potential approaches to governance of commercial interactions in alcohol research and policymaking
- Supporting capacity-building, networking, communities of practice, and/or training for population-level alcohol research and policy in low/middle income countries
- Supporting WHO with a global scientific research and writing mentorship scheme for early career researchers from low
- and middle-income countries on research relating to alcohol control policies
- Participating in peer review and expert consultations on indicators, methods and data sources to inform a dashboard for monitoring the implementation of alcohol policy interventions globally
- International comparative research and methodological development, for example, of effective public communication strategies on alcohol, or media coverage of alcohol policy matters in selected countries
- Board membership of the International Confederation of Alcohol, tobacco and other drug Research Associations
- Leadership of the Conflict-of-Interest Committee of the Kettil Brunn Society for Social and Epidemiological Research on Alcohol
- The Governance, Ethics and Conflicts of Interest in Public Health network (GECI-PH)
- Deputy leadership of the UK Prevention Research Partnership (UKPRP) SPECTRUM Consortium,
- Membership of the Public Health Policy Research Unit of the UK Department of Health and Social Care
- Leadership of the UKPRP Community of Practice for prevention researchers

Knowledge & Experience
- Good knowledge of contemporary issues relating to the prevention of alcohol-related harm nationally and internationally
- Up to date broad knowledge of evidence and practice on alcohol policy including marketing, availability and pricing
- Experience of leading academic writing for publication such as academic papers, policy briefs, or reports
- Some experience of research team leadership

Skills & Attributes
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within an interdisciplinary team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build positive and mutually beneficial relationships with academics, partners and other stakeholders, including internationally
- Excellent ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) complex information to a wide range of audiences including colleagues from diverse countries and organisations
- Ability to plan and effectively deliver on complex projects efficiently with demonstrable attention to detail
- Ability to use appropriate analytical packages.

- Experience of successful leadership of research teams.
