**Youth Engagement Officer (Female)**

**Salary**:£27,334 pro rata**

**Hours of Work**:22.5 hours per week
- evening and weekend work required**

**Length of contract: One years’ contract**

This role is ideal for someone with experience of engaging and motivating young girls and young women living in poverty and at risk of/have mental health problems particularly those who have recently arrived as refugees, asylum seekers or economic migrants, and be facing increased levels of psychological morbidity, especially PTSD, depression and anxiety.

They face further barriers due to language and literacy difficulties, disrupted education, discrimination, issues with identity and belonging, a lack of parental involvement. including: low aspirations and educational attainment, mild-moderate mental health problems and risk of exclusion from school.

Confidentiality, excellent communication skills, empathy and a good understanding of safeguarding are imperative to this role.

**Essential Experience**:

- Educated to a degree level in youth work or similar to work on the project for young people
- A minimum of one years’ youth work experience working in a variety of settings and using a variety of youth work methods
- A proven track record of achieving in output and outcomes-based targets projects
- Previous experience of working with NEET or vulnerable young people
- Experience of working on one’s own initiative and within a team
- Experience of planning and delivering youth work programmes to young people
- Experience of working intensively with vulnerable young people on a one to one basis
- Experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds

**It is an occupational requirement for this role to have a female (respective of post requirements) worker under the Equality Act 2010, Section 9 Part 1**
