We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Horticulturist to join our team. As a Senior Horticulturist, you will be responsible for overseeing the ongoing aftercare and development of a range of our award winning gardens and planting projects. You will be a passionate horticulturist who has the ability to communicate with clients, the operations team and train junior members of the team.
**Duties**:
- Develop and implement horticultural aftercare plans
- Supervise and train horticultural staff
- Improve plant growth and health, monitoring pests, diseases and looking at eco friendly ways of improving gardens.
- Carry out a range of horticultural tasks to a high standard including pruning, planting, training climbers and installing/maintaining irrigation
- Devise planting improvements and successive improvements such as bulb planting schemes
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper care and maintenance of plants including reporting back at maintenance meetings and design workshops on plant suitability, effect of climate etc
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in horticulture
**Skills**:
- Extensive knowledge of plant biology, botany, and horticultural practices
- Strong leadership and garden management skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
**Requirements**:
- Diploma/RHS Level 2 in Horticulture or related field
- UK drivers license
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in horticulture or a related field
- Proficiency in using horticultural tools and equipment
- Knowledge of local plant species and their specific care requirements
