Relief Care Assistant

**Relief Care Assistants must be flexible, able to work weekends and be available at short notice (same day).**

The home runs 4 shifts over the course of the day. (Morning shift) 7/8am - 1pm, (Afternoon shift) 1pm - 6pm, (Back shift) 6pm - 10pm and (Night shift) 10pm - 8am

**We are looking for experienced care assistants who understand that this is a physically demanding role and good time keeping skills are essential.**

Care assistants need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all kinds of people, in situations which can be stressful or emotionally draining. More specifically they should have:

- A friendly approach and the ability to put residents at ease, whatever their physical or social needs
- The ability to be tactful and sensitive at all times
- A good sense of humour
- Respect for the resident and their families
- A high level of patience as some residents do have challenging behaviour
- A good knowledge of basic health care and hygiene standards
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to deal with anxious residents
- A responsible and flexible attitude to residents and the job
- Manual dexterity and a certain level of physical strength
- The ability to stay calm under pressure
- A commitment to the job, the residents and their families
- The ability to think quickly and solve problems as they arise

We are preferably looking for people with 6 months experience in the care field.

All employees working in care must now be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of starting employment. You will be asked to register once you have successfully completed your probationary period and this must be kept up to date with an annual fee.

All care staff must be willing to work towards an SVQ2 or equivalent if they do not already have this qualification within 5 years of taking up this care post. Part funding through the SAAS is available for completion of SVQ 2 and SVQ 3 qualifications.

All staff will receive a full induction programme which involves several weeks shadowing with experienced staff members and allowing time for you to get to know the residents fully. You will complete Moving and Handling training during this induction.

We are offering an hourly rate of £10.50 dayshift, £10.60 nightshift, a company pension scheme, 5.6 weeks holiday a year and the chance to work with a great team in a family run care home.
