**Job Purpose**

To ensure all aspects of the factory and QA practices have been completed to meet all legal, food safety, quality requirements and support in driving the food safety and quality culture. The auditor role will encompass aspects from: goods in monitoring of raw materials, packaging through to finished goods dispatch. Auditing activities will cover the scope of the factory, laboratory and technical function areas.

**Dimensions**

Reporting to the Site Quality Assurance Manager via the Quality Assurance STO and Co-ordinator structure, the Operator will provide a Quality and Technical service to all Manufacturing functions on the Wisbech site, ensuring that standards of product safety, legality and quality consistency are applied and maintained.

Specifically, the role is a source of knowledge and expertise for the manufacturing team on ingredients and packaging, quality standards (quality attributes for raw materials) during processing, processing for food safety, GMP, site processes, plant functionality and technical information of key equipment and finally overall finished product testing (against know quality specifications).

The position works closely with all manufacturing personnel so as to drive continuous improvement of product, process and people whilst improving efficiency targets and maximising output through constantly monitoring, advising and working proactively within their area.

To ensure the thermal processing records are reviewed and checked verifying the products have been thermally processed correctly.

**Principal Responsibilities**
- The auditing of the paperwork and monitoring factory operations, as specified in the HACCP plan, to ensure compliance for each CCP’s, Control Points and Pre-requisites.
- Participate in safety and quality audits covering internal, hygiene, CCP and GMP audits as per the internal audit schedule or as part of continuous improvement monitoring
- Collation of all CCP cooker recorders, charts and processing records for sterilisation treatment for thermal verification against the defined specification.
- Implement the Isolation protocols on site and at finished goods warehouses, where required and escalate to the line managers.
- To participate and support with complaint and internal NCN investigations with the relevant functions.
- To assist in the traceability requests and customer queries from site or during customer visits audits.
- To complete monitoring of production quality through taste panel processes
- The monitoring of cooker bromine levels
- Personally demonstrate the correct safety behaviours, ensuring safe operating practices are followed, Raising the correct near misses, talk safes.
- Complete Near Miss reports. Contribute to risk assessments when required.
- Assessment of raw materials from deliveries through to usage, to ensure the materials are within specification and processable. Escalate non-confirming products in a timely manner to ensure the necessary action is taken with the supplier, procurement and production.
- Complete all SAP transitions through raw material release and Technical blocked stock where required
- Support the alignment of raw materials to the QAS finish product standards with working knowledge of seasonality, process conditions and agreed specifications.
- Sampling of raw materials, packaging, WIP and finished product accordingly for all microbiological, legal, physical, chemical and nutritional analysis against the schedule requirements
- Promote a continuous improvement approach to enhance/improve the process controls
- All other duties and/or tasks required to provide quality assurance of products and support the QA team.

- Able to communicate in a way that is influential and supportive which will assist the site in a proactive manner while understanding the technical aspects of a production based environment.
- Good Knowledge of SAP and other associated stock management software.
- Sound IT skills with demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- 3 Years or more within a canning technical role or similar environment, with both external and internal training on canning easily demonstrable.
- Physically able to demonstrate a high level of safe manual handling at all times.
- Flexible approach to all tasks.
- Willingness to improve personally or within everyday working environment.
- Science or Food based formal qualifications at an entry academic level is desirable.
- Knowledge of the principles of HACCP and importance of Critical Control Points.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate.
- Experience of Internal Audits and or exposure to third party audits is desirable.
- Very good understanding, both written and verbal language skills.
