Job description

We are seeking experienced professionals to work as Specialist Mentors to provide one to one support for students with Mental Health Conditions (including Depression, Anxiety, Emotional Instability, Bi-polar, Psychosis and Eating Disorders).

The post holder will be expected to support students to develop study strategies in a range of study related areas to aid progression towards independent learning. This may include but is not limited to time and workload management, exam preparation, structuring of coursework, management of attendance to aid progression towards independent learning.

The post holder will be undertaking duties in line with funding through the Disabled Students’ Allowance. This requires staff to have membership of a specific professional body. This list of professional bodies can be found on the Student Loans Company mandatory qualifications and professional memberships document on page 10. Only applicants who satisfy the professional body membership for Specialist Mentor - Mental Health will be invited to interview.

We are particularly keen to recruit staff who can offer both online and in person one to one sessions.

Please note that applicants who are current students at the University of Huddersfield will only be able to work a maximum of 15 hours per week.
