Bath, United Kingdom Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Our Rheumatology department work from within the recently established RNHRD building, situated adjacent to our dedicated Therapies building. We provide care for patients referred to us nationally, but the core of our work comes from patients within 4 local ICS areas - BSW, BNSSG, Somerset and Gloucestershire.

We are a multi-disciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Support Workers who all work together to provide support for patients suffering from a variety of Rheumatic diseases.

Sessions are provided both in person and virtually in 1 to 1 and group settings, as appropriate. As part of our service, we are proud to provide the award winning residential Bath Axial Spondyloarthritis Rehabilitation Programme as well as collaborating with UWE to provide the Bath Outpatient Fibromyalgia Self-Management Programme.

We currently provide a 5 day service, however the role may require occasional weekend or Bank Holiday working. As part of our commitment to you and your career development, we provide ongoing training opportunities both in-house and externally.

We have a well-equipped hydrotherapy pool and gym spaces with CV and strength equipment. We run regular gym classes for people with inflammatory arthritis. There is a designated splinting area for those patients who require hand based thermoplastic splints.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Support Worker to join our Rheumatology Therapies Team. Our current Therapies Support Workers work with both rheumatology physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

We run multi-disciplinary programmes providing condition-specific education and exercise-based self-management for people with rheumatic diseases and long-term pain conditions such as inflammatory arthritis, Axial Spondyloarthropathies (AxSpA), connective tissue diseases, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders.

The main duties of the role are to encourage and support patients with one or more rheumatic conditions, including chronic pain, to actively engage with supported self
- management interventions and techniques, as prescribed by an HCPC registered therapist.

This includes supporting outpatient clinics, hydrotherapy, gym programmes and self-management and education group programmes. Groups are both virtual and in-person, covering both outpatient and residential programmes.

There may be a requirement to support rheumatology therapists working with the rheumatology Day Case Unit and inpatient services.

The role is a mix of clinical, administrative and practical tasks to support the broad range of therapy services that we provide for our patients. This also includes data entry.

The role requires health and/or social care experience. Experience of working directly with people is essential.
