**Environmental, Health & Safety EHS Advisor**
Glasgow
£30,000 per annum
Permanent position

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, protection of the working environment, and compliance of relevant regulations and standards within the company.

This position involves a combination of risk assessment, regulatory compliance, training, and incident management.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**:

- Maintain regulation compliance to ISO 14001, ISO 50001 & OSHAS standards through policy development, implementation and monitoring
- Manage all EHS data including statistical information and incident reporting etc.
- Environmental Management by maintaining and improving waste management strategies to minimise negative impact and promote sustainability initiatives such as recycling and proper disposal practices
- Communicate regularly with external bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and other safety and environmental organisations & emergency services in order to keep informed of new examples of best practice
- Oversee the monitoring of electricity, gas and water usage and implement steps to minimise to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
- Collaborate with security personnel to assess and address potential security risks, to ensure the protection of personnel and assets
- Conduct risk assessments across various operational areas to identify potential hazards and assess associated risks
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and improve overall workplace safety
- Develop and deliver training programs to employees on topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage
- Promote a culture of safety by providing regular communication and education on EHS-related matters
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, or near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective/preventative actions
- Conduct routine audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with EHS standards whilst identifying areas for improvement
- Maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters by coordinating drills and exercises testing their effectiveness
- Provide continual compliance and improvement in EHS performance (to company targets/key performance indicators)
- Management of financial spend in line with budgetary requirements (to budget).

**EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:

- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) qualification with membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards) is required
- IEMA qualification with experience in environmental issues
- Passionate, confident, enthusiastic, motivated and pro-active personality.
- Strong influencing, communication, self-management, team working and people skills are essential.
