To give strategic direction to the Fundraising Department.

To research new sources of funding and to work with leading clinicians/project-leads to submit significant bids in order to maximise philanthropic income.

To initiate and nurture relationships with new donors at the highest level.

To build relationships with major donors, the Trust Board, the Trust leadership team, and those at director level within the Trust.

To steward existing donors.

To deliver excellent supporter care.

To support the Charity Team to achieve its ambitious fundraising targets.

To build on the Trust’s strong reputation with key stakeholders.

To set and monitor progress against individual and team KPI achievement.

To contribute to the daily running and future direction of the Charity as a member of the Senior Management Team.

Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity aims to serve the local population by helping to support studies and medical research, enhancing the care our partner hospitals can offer through new equipment and better facilities. Investing in the people who work in our hospitals through training and wellbeing support.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, flexible, driven, and organised person to lead our growing fundraising team, helping us to deliver on our ambitious strategy and fundraising targets.

Using your experience, you will have the chance to produce creative and high impact fundraising approaches, connect with and grow our supporter base, and deliver meaningful results. The key outcomes of this role will include the leadership and management of a fundraising strategy and to support the sustainable growth of the Charity as part of the leadership team. You will report directly to the Charity Chief Officer.

You will be a skilled fundraiser, with previous significant experience of working in a similar sized charity. You will be an excellent, persuasive communicator and have had demonstrable success at engaging people to a cause and motivating giving.

- To provide leadership and direction on all aspects of income generation to ensure personal and team fundraising targets are met.
- Work with the Charity team to maintain and grow our portfolio of donors and supporters.
- Increase awareness of the Charity within the various hospitals, satellite sites within the Trust and wider community by building relationships internally and externally
- Work with the Fundraising Team and other colleagues to deliver a broad and exciting mix of fundraising, communications and relationship building activity.
- Create articulate and impassioned funding documents and submissions.
- Represent the Charity Chief Officer at the highest level.
- Deliver against donor requirements (recognition, equipment purchase, lottery reporting)
- Manage and improve systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising activity and stakeholder communication.
- Act as a trained and informed lottery license holder and manager
