Buckinghamshire NHS Trust are keen to recruit an enthusiastic trainee cardiac physiologist with a desire for progression and a passion for cardiology and cardiac devices. We are looking for a trainee cardiac physiologist with the desire to train and develop knowledge and skills within the areas of non invasive and invasive cardiology.

A BSc Cardiac Physiology qualification or equivalent science degree is essential. Applicants will be expected to supported to achieve accreditation in cardiac devices (BHRS, EHRA or IBHRE) within a specific time frame.

Trainees will be supported to achieve competence in the key areas of cardiac physiology. Once competent, members of the cardiac physiology team will be expected to rotate around areas of cardiology such as the catheter labs (angiograms, PCI, PPCI, IVUS, OCT, FFR), exercise tolerance testing, tilt tests, tape analysis, device follow up, remote monitoring follow up and device implant. Experience in those areas would be an advantage but not essential.

There is currently no on call commitment.

The post holder will undertake a four year graded training and assessment program within the Cardiac Physiology department.

Under supervision the post holder will be trained to;
Record and interpret Electrocardiograms (ECGs) to SCST guidelines on a wide range of Inpatients and Outpatients, both adults and paediatrics.

To Perform exercise treadmill tests, preparing the patient for the procedure, conducting the test and interpreting the results.

On achievement of competencies for basic and advanced tests, training will commence in the Specialist techniques of Invasive cardiology including cath lab diagnostic exams, pacemaker implant and follow up and ICD/CRT device implant and follow up. Devices accreditation will be expected as part of this process.

The post holder will undertake to attend courses and training in Clinical Cardiology performing any assignment work and examinations that are required including mandatory training, relevant to the role
