Support Worker

We are seeking to recruit an experienced and trustworthy support worker for our client. He is a 52-year-old man who sustained a brain injury due to a road traffic accident. He lives alone. Due to this he is vulnerable. He is physically able to manage most activities of daily living, but due to cognitive difficulties, he needs support and encouragement to engage consistently and maintain his health and well-being.
Shift patterns: 11 - 2pm. A competitive salary of £15 per hour depending on experience.
**Qualifying Specification**
The position requires you to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working either in a health or social care sector and NVQ Level 3 qualifications. Your experience and knowledge of brain injuries will help you take the adaptive and flexible approach needed to facilitate and maintain the client’s independence. You will demonstrate the ability to work sensitively but be assertive when needed, to encourage his engagement. You will be supported to take an appropriate approach by the case manager and clinical team.
You will be able to coordinate/drive the client to all appointments, to maintain his health and wellbeing, including GP, dentist and hospital. You will have experience of working with a small team of health professionals.
**Hours Per Week**
- 9/10 hours per week. Monday, Wednesday, Friday - face to face visits, 11 - 2pm approx.
- Must be willing to consider flexible hours around above core days, depending on client need.
**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Support and encourage to maintain his home environment - complete basic domestic tasks.
- Support to manage grocery shopping, online food orders, and preparation of simple meals.
- Monitor food stocks, support regular grocery shopping and online food orders.
- Arrange, coordinate and take client to all health related and dental appointments.
- Assist to manage weekly budgeting.
- Oversee and support client to care for cat - maintain hygiene and take to vet appointments.
- Encourage to socialise and access the community - engage in leisure/vocational activities.
- Support to engage in tasks delegated by his therapists.
- Complete notes and liaise regularly with case manager and multidisciplinary team.

**Training**
All training required for you to work with our client will be given along with all clinical competencies. You will be supported by the assigned clinical team and professional therapy staff.
