We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ecologist to join our expanding team. Based in our Carlisle office, we can offer some flexibility with regard to our other offices, you would be joining a team of dedicated professionals who work closely with the rural community to advise clients across the North of England and Yorkshire. The role will mainly involve travel throughout the North of England, covering Cumbria including the unique landscape of the Lake District National Park, County Durham, North Yorkshire and Northumberland.

We are looking for a driven, well organised individual that can demonstrate excellent time management skills with an ability to manage a broad portfolio of work. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and be confident in undertaking site work alone.

The position includes a wide range of traditional survey work together with the opportunity to be involved in the emerging work of Biodiversity Net Gain, alongside some significant project work. The role includes but is not limited to the following:

- undertaking ecological surveys to the relevant professional standards, including the use of specialist surveying equipment such as GPS
- undertaking Habitat and Baseline Environmental Surveys
- undertaking Habitat Condition Assessments and Bird Surveys
- preparing baseline surveys using Metric 4.0 and advising on the design and management of land for the purpose of Nutrient Neutrality and Biodiversity Net Gain
- providing professional advice to clients and developers on environmental and ecological matters

You will preferably be a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecologists & Environmental Managers (CIEEM) (payment of professional subscriptions is included in your remuneration package). You will be a competent computer user with the ability to produce plans and maps and write comprehensive reports to industry standards.

You should demonstrate a strong interest in the rural environment and be adept at and enjoy engaging, influencing and communicating with clients, professionals and the rural community.

A full UK driving licence is essential.
