**Substance Use Worker
Hours: 22.5 hours a week, Fixed term, 6 months

**Salary**: £22,387.61 per annum (pro rata)
Holidays: 25 days per year plus 8 public holidays (pro rata)
Period of Notice: 1 week during probation; 4 weeks thereafter
Probationary Period: 6 Months.
Based at: Swansea.
Responsible to: Swansea Treatment Services Manager

Adferiad Overview

Adferiad Recovery delivers a flexible and coordinated response to the exceptional circumstances faced
by people with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions and related issues. Vulnerable
people facing complex life challenges need consistent and seamless support to ensure they remain
engaged with vital health and wellbeing services - and to prevent them becoming disenfranchised and
isolated.

Adferiad Recovery harnesses the talents and experience of long-established and leading Welsh
charities CAIS, Hafal and WCADA. Our combined expertise in the fields of substance use, mental
health, housing, criminal justice, and employment support enables Adferiad Recovery to meet the
needs of our most vulnerable with a single, unified, and comprehensive approach.

Our support includes a range of local and national services for our clients, carers and families; we operate
services in all 22 counties of Wales and in Lancashire.

We also provide a national and local voice for our clients and campaign alongside them to reform policy
and law, improve services and combat discrimination.

Role Purpose:
The post holder will be responsible for assisting existing treatment services staff with supporting
individuals aged 18 and over who are using substances. The role may require supporting clients in the
agency or in their own environment, depending on the level of need.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Service Delivery:

- Co-facilitate group programmes and be a point of contact for individuals who may require additional

support
- Undertake screening assessments from those referring self into NEWID for treatment
- Support the existing first point of contact service by contacting clients who have disengaged from
- service- Carry a small caseload of low-risk individuals who need mínimal support during the end stages of
- treatment- Offer Dry Blood Spot Testing to those at risk of Blood Borne Viruses.
- Deliver crisis intervention through drop-in service.
- Maintain appropriate written and database client records and undertake appropriate administrative
- tasks in a timely manner.- Organize and manage time effectively to ensure service delivery opportunities are maximized.
- Complete relevant data inputting on the WCCIS case management system and NEO database system
- Facilitate needle and syringe provision, ensuring individuals receive the correct equipment
- Attend outreach visits with other staff members when required
- Employee Responsibilities:
- Act in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and Information Governance Policies.
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements such as provisions set out in the Health and Safety at Work
- Act 1974.- To act in accordance with the charity’s Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies and to notify the line
- manager promptly if there are any concerns.- To participate in regular supervision and appraisal and undertake any relevant training as appropriate to
