Owned by the Italian Frandino Group and originally founded in the 1950s as a fruit distillery, **Sedamyl **has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide. In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.

**What We Do**

**Sedamyl UK,** uses Yorkshire-grown wheat in its production, which is purchased from a network in excess of 1,000 local farmers, so providing a valuable and sustained revenue stream. The announcement in 2021 to invest a further £80m in expanding both its distilling and liquid sweetener production, significantly boosts an already growing workforce to around 150 employees, creating in excess of 75 new jobs for the area.

**What we are looking for**

We are looking for experienced Technical Procurement Specialist to join our join our project team.

Working a part of a dedicated project team, you will be responsible for the acquisition and controlling of all technical parts/goods and services required to ensure all projects targets are met within the agreed time scales. The project team is a multi-disciplined team that included working with external contractors, procurement departments, supplier both from the UK and overseas.

**Key activities and Responsibilities**

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

- Responsibility for selecting and contract negotiating with strategic suppliers often on an international basis relating to the passive network (including network components, accessories etc)
- Establish and maintain key relationships with both suppliers and international teams.
- Develop existing and new sourcing strategies
- Proactively drive enforcement of strategy identification and realisation of savings opportunities to create a competitive advantage for the business and mitigate supply risk
- Ensuring the supplier’s forecast plans are created and shared on a weekly and monthly basis
- Ensuring supplier governance initiatives and relationships management through regular reviews, visits and supplier audits
- Perform supplier business and financial reviews on a quarterly performance and strategic business direction
- Analyse issues at supply market level and supply chain level
- Undertake product research including potential suppliers and competitive products
- Develop and maintain a robust and centralised system for call offs with each supplier
- Work on the tendering process for obtaining goods and services
- Work on the Policy of Waste Management
- Liaise with the Warehouse team for the orders and returning of spare parts
- Be proactive to ensure better quality of spare parts and service and to reduce delivery times and maintenance costs
- Provide a proactive supplier surveillance support service to projects by ensuring material and documentation deliverables proceed in accordance with contractual requirements and fully compliant with project procedures
- Work with the project team on procurement and execution of engineering packages of project long lead items and bulk materials including materials required for early tie-in activities
- Develop a procurement plan/ strategy for the project that defines the detailed procurement processes
- Support the development and implementation of the CMMS system and play an active role in the project of the workshop and spare parts store refurbishment

**Skills and Requirements**:

- Proven experience in engineering, procurement and operations
- Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities
- Previous experience in using the computer aided design software (CAD)
- Strong computing skills including MS suit (specifically Microsoft Excel)
- Competent team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in receiving quotations and negotiating new contracts with manufacturers and suppliers
- Able to establish relationships with suppliers
- Ability to analyse bills of material and drawings to understand key requirements
- Strong ability to identify any issues and then create a solution
- Strong negotiation skills
