A secondary school in Oldham requires a Teaching Assistant on an on-going basis.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a a crucial role in supporting both teacher and pupils within the school. Here are some common duties associated with this role:

- Inclusion Support: Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to facilitate the inclusion of students with special needs in mainstream classrooms.
- Adapt and modify teaching materials to meet the unique learning requirements of individual students.
- Individualised Instruction: Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students with special needs.
- Implement strategies outlined in Individualised Education Programs (IEPs) or other personalised plans.
- Assistive Technology: Support students in using assistive technology tools that aid in their learning.
- Collaborate with the school's technology department to ensure accessibility.
- Behavioural Support: Implement behaviour management strategies to address any challenges.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and specialists to create and implement behaviour plans.
- Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with parents, teachers, and other support staff.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings related to student progress and support.
- Physical Assistance: Provide physical assistance or support for students with mobility or health-related needs.
- Ensure that the physical environment is accessible for all students.
- Emotional and Social Support: Foster a positive and inclusive environment.
- Support the emotional well-being of students and assist in developing social skills.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assist in assessing students' academic and developmental progress.
- Keep detailed records of student achievements and challenges.
- Training and Professional Development: Attend training sessions to stay informed about new strategies, interventions, and best practices.
- Collaborate with other special education professionals.
- Promoting Independence: Encourage and facilitate the development of independent learning skills.
- Gradually reduce support as students become more self-reliant.
- Sensory Support: Provide support for students with sensory processing needs.
- Create or implement sensory-friendly environments when necessary.
- Transition Support: Assist in transitions between activities, classrooms, or educational levels.
- Collaborate with other professionals to plan and support transitions for students.

It's important to note that the role of Teaching Assistant can vary based on the specific needs of the students, the educational level, and the policies of the school or educational institution. Effective collaboration with teachers, other support staff, and parents is essential for the success of students with special needs.

Pay: £80.00-£95.00 per day
