Role Summary

A crucial, senior position in the Campaign UK editorial team responsible for ensuring it delivers the most informed and informative news, features and analysis for the marketing, advertising and commercial media industry.

A vital part of this role is managing and supporting the specialist editors as they deliver timely and thought-provoking news, analysis and features on their sectors across all formats (print, digital, data, audio and video).

The Deputy Editor also works with the Premium Content Editor to ensure Campaign’s subscription content plan is of high value and meets the needs of its varied tiers of readers.

**Role Summary**

The Deputy Editor also works with the Premium Content Editor to ensure Campaign’s subscription content plan is of high value and meets the needs of its varied tiers of readers.

**Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities**
- In partnership with the UK Editor, the Deputy Editor is responsible for Campaign’s delivery and development of industry-leading and high quality content across print, digital, data, audio, video and live.
- Supports the Editor and Editor-in-Chief in the development of the brand and editorial strategy, to ensure all editorial and commercial products are market-beating and adhere to Campaign’ core editorial values and result in reward and recognition through the HBM editorial incentive scheme and industry awards.
- The Deputy Editor ensures Campaign’s journalism sets the agenda, surprises and inspires readers and gets the brand talked about, positioning it ahead of its competitors including writing a monthly column.
- At the same time, the deputy is mindful of the issues and needs of Campaign’s audience and works with the specialist editors to ensure the brand delivers on them.
- As Deputy Editor, you will be called upon to run the brand editorially from time to time, but you will also take full responsibility for specific products including the podcast as well as certain commercial partnerships and awards.
- The Deputy will act as an ambassador for Campaign in the marketplace, attending key events and maintaining their profile both in person and online.
- The Deputy Editor oversees Campaign’s audio visual content including the Campaign Podcast - ensuring the section editors have a schedule planned in advance - as well as any trials or new launches.
- The Deputy Editor will also work closely with the Premium Content Editor and colleagues in the HBM Studio to promote best practice, innovative thinking and creative storytelling throughout the team when it comes to digital publishing.
- Oversee the section editors’ development of ideas for the print magazine and online feature slots.
- The Deputy Editor will oversee the production of the Winter magazine, including project managing The Lists.
- The Deputy Editor will work with the Head of Audience Engagement to use data to shape content strategy and inform content follow-ups. You will drive the specialist editors to use analytics everyday to see how content is performing and how it can be improved upon.
- Managing a team of specialist editors, ensuring all reviews, performance management processes and HR workflows for your direct reports.
