2 Locum Consultant posts who are keen to develop a specialist interests in Lymphoma and Myeloma. These posts will create a team of 8 consultants (3 substantive) providing comprehensive high quality haematology services in the Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB).

Haematology services within SBUHB operate at BCSH level 3. Inpatient clinical responsibility includes managing acute leukaemia, relapsed lymphoma and autologous stem cell transplants in addition to best supportive care and non malignant haematology conditions requiring in patient support.

The department of Clinical Haematology is based at Singleton Hospital and is part of Cancer Services, which is managed under Singleton & Neath Port Talbot Management Team. Patient care operates at BCSH level III, with 10-20 in-patient beds catering for the management of patients undergoing intensive chemotherapy for haematological malignancy including acute leukaemia, ATG for aplastic anaemia and lymphoma salvage regimes along with a dedicated 4 bedded unit for autologous stem cell transplants. There is a busy day unit for day case chemotherapy and procedures co-located with the inpatient facilities, and managed by an experienced team of haematology trained nurses. There is a sub-regional haemophilia centre supported through specialist Consultant input from the Regional Haemophilia Centre in Cardiff along with 2 WTE CNS, Physio, Psychologist and administration support on site in Singleton.

Clinical Haematology Management at SBUHB

The Department of Clinical Haematology sits within the division of Cancer Services, comprising Oncology, Haematology, Palliative Care, Radiotherapy and Lymphodema and is managed by the Neath Port Talbot Singleton Service Group (NPTSSG).

NPTSSG has it's own Medical Directors, Mr Dougie Russell and Dr Martin Bevan, Interim Service Group Director, Mrs Ceri Gimblett and Interim Nurse Group Director Sharron Price. The Clinical Lead for Haematology is Dr Ann Benton.

NPTSSG is accountable to the SBUHB executive team comprising Dr Richard Evans as Medical Director, Mark Hackett as Chief Executive, and Emma Woollett as Chair.
