Overview:
An exciting role as a Slaughter and Boning hall Trainer has become available at our Preston site in Lancashire. This is an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary structure, ensuring that, as one of the UK’s largest Meat Processors, we train, upskill and maintain manufacturing excellence and compliance.

**The Role**

To support Dunbia’s business strategy through teaching and education if butchery/slaughter operatives to achieve LEAN, efficient and effective slaughter/boning hall operation. Striving for best practice in all areas with particular focus on maximising quality and yield standards

**Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensuring good housekeeping is maintained.
- Ensuring that Quality, Health & Safety.
- Company policies are adhered to and liaising with relevant departments to ensure issues are resolved.
- Maintaining good employee relations and promoting equality of opportunity.
- Working within the Company Mission, Vision & Values.
- Proper use and storage of issued PPE (including chainmail and knives etc).
- Providing succession plans for the site for supply of Butchers and replacement butchers.
- Continually assessing the performance (skill and speed) of butchers in the Retail, Boning Hall and Slaughter Hall Departments.
- Identify areas for improvement for each skilled operative and develop personal development plans training against individual needs.
- Ensure yield standards are understood by butchers/slaughtermen.
- Ensure skilled operatives are working to customer specifications, and that quality standards are achieved
- Continually assess the performance of Team Leaders/Supervisors and Managers in Retail, Boning Hall and Slaughter Hall departments to develop their butchery knowledge.
- Help to demonstrate and educate all staff to meet the correct standards.
- Deliver Butchery awareness courses for non-butchers.
- Maintaining and updating the skills matrix for butchery related skills across relevant departments.
- Undertaking butchery demonstrations as required.
- Being involved in site projects involving butchery.
- Ensure company values are adhered to at all times when communicating with employees.
- Reviewing the performance of departmental staff - setting objectives for their training and development, providing support and creating opportunities for their training and development, providing feedback and evaluating the effectiveness and performance improvement.
- On completion of job training, ensuring all relevant documentation has been signed and forwarded to HR.
- Health and Safety Duties
- Maintaining Health & Safety and Hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations.
- Ensuring that all staff and visitors in the department wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Qualifications:
**The Person**
- 5years + Food industry experience, preferably in a Slaughter/Boning Hall role.
- Organisational skills to enable the management and development of training records
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal at all levels
- Ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative
