A&e Ambulance Care Assistant

Northallerton, United Kingdom Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust Full time

Are you caring and compassionate and have a passion for making positive differences to peoples’ lives?

As an Ambulance Care Assistant working within the A&E team, you will be working in support of front-line clinicians on an ambulance, you will be a key part of our emergency service providing support to the low acuity and urgent level patients. We work 24/7, 365 days a year, which means you will need to work flexibly, up to 12 hours at a time, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

The role of ACA (A&E) can provide an excellent opportunity to further develop a career in healthcare and within Yorkshire Ambulance Service, with opportunities to progress through our apprenticeship programme to working on the network of an emergency ambulance as an Ambulance Support Worker.

Please be aware this is not the Ambulance Support Worker position and therefore does not enrol you onto the ASW Apprenticeship.

This is a stimulating and challenging role, but it is not for everyone. We need people that are confident, caring, compassionate and hard-working; you will be as passionate as we are about making a positive difference to the people of Yorkshire.

You will work in conjunction with another non-clinically qualified staff member, providing urgent care and safe transport to patients whose condition has been assessed by a clinician as being suitable for low acuity transport. No two shifts will be the same; you might respond to a patient referred to an acute care setting by the GP or be required to transfer a sick patient from one healthcare facility to another.

As an A&E Ambulance Care Assistant, you will be a highly visible role model, not only in respect of what you do, but also in the way you conduct yourself with our patients, the public and colleagues.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.

We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.

We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service.

Our ambition is to be an employer of choice, and we are continuously working across our partnership to improve our collective offer to staff in areas like health and wellbeing, benefits and flexible working incl. hybrid working.

**Benefits**:

- Flexible working including part-time hours, job shares and flexible hours, agile working (role dependant)
- 27 days annual leave, increasing to 33 with service.
- Contributory Pension.
- NHS Discounts including shops, restaurants, gyms etc.
- Car lease and other salary sacrifice schemes.
- Dedicated employee assistance and counselling service.
- Opportunities for research participation, career progression and ongoing development.
- Well respected, committed and supported staff networks for our workforce.

As this is a driving role it is essential you have a full UK driving licence with a full category C1 (with no more than 3 penalty points).

**Please note if you do hold the desired qualifications, you will be required to evidence certificates for your qualifications at the interview stage.**
