Floating Support Worker

**Key duties**
- To provide support to offenders who are experiencing difficulty sustaining their tenancy, or who need assistance to find accommodation and intensive support to enhance their independent living skills.
- To work closely with Housing Support Grant Single Point of Contact (SPOC), and criminal justice services, in particular with HMPPS, and Prison Resettlement Teams and Accommodation networks.
- To make assertive contact, particularly with hard-to-reach service users who have failed to engage with services following contact with Kaleidoscope, both in the office environment and within the community.
- To facilitate and support service users’ re-engagement with Kaleidoscope and partner services.
- To undertake an assessment of service user need according to protocols laid down by Kaleidoscope and to refer service users to appropriate agencies.
- To provide accurate information on obtaining and maintaining a tenancy, benefit entitlement, and budget management.
- To accompany service users to appointments, and support with independent living skills such as shopping, budgeting, and other tasks which will improve overall quality of life.
- To provide accurate information and advice on all aspects of alcohol and substance use.
- To maintain an accurately documented caseload of service users including case notes, data base records, attendance etc.
- To identify key contacts in the support agencies based in the community.
- To follow up referrals made to other agencies for the purpose of outcome monitoring.
- To be responsible for the collection of statistical data.
- To prepare reports as and when required by senior managers and other Kaleidoscope central services representatives.
**Professional Development**
- Maintain and develop personal expertise and knowledge by reading, networking and further training to develop professional competence and to contribute to the development of competence within the team
- Help with the induction and orientation of new staff, volunteers and students
- Where relevant, develop and maintain the competencies needed to undertake the role of Floating Support Worker
- Ensure professional development by seeking regular supervision and annual appraisals.
- Effectively manage own time and prioritise workload, maintaining own administration and accurate personal records regarding travel, diary appointments, TOIL, and expenses incurred.
**Service Development**
- Ensure a high-quality service is delivered in line with the service specification and regional delivery plans.
- Contribute to the delivery of internal teaching and training programmes
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to further develop the service
- To attend such meetings and liaison with external agencies as may be required and, in all circumstances, to promote the best interests of Kaleidoscope.
- To bring to the attention of the Senior Practitioner areas of specific concern
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
**Salary**: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per hour
