JOB TITLE
Summer School Assistant

OVERVIEW OF THE JOB
To undertake various duties in the Maintenance, Catering and Domestic departments as directed. To ensure maintenance work, cleaning, gardening, caretaking and catering duties are completed to a high standard.

REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Operations Manager.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Cleaning:
Clean all sinks and toilets
Empty all Bins
Mop bathroom floors
Vacuum all rooms
Vacuum all halls and stairs
Clean Mirrors (smear free)
Clean and mop porch
Ensure toilet holders are full
Other related duties as directed by the management from time to time
Clean and dust all wooden panelling
Wipe down radiators and pipe work
Wash all doors and door frames
Wipe and dust the tops of all cupboards
Wash down all banisters
Clean inside of windows
Wash all skirting boards

Halls of Residence:
Remove litter from around the building
Laundry duties as required
Thorough cleaning on hand over and takeover of rooms on arrival and departure of students/groups
Other related duties as directed by the management from time to time

Canteen
Food preparation as required
Preparing and bagging packed lunches
Cooking as required
Assist with the serving of food during mealtimes.
Maintain hygiene standards, within the current regulations.
Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations are obeyed.
Ensure that the kitchens and dining rooms are maintained in a clean state.
Cleaning of kitchen equipment

Pot Wash
Manning of the Pot Wash Facility
Cleaning of Pot Wash equipment

Snack Bar/Bar
Assist with the serving of the Snack Bar/Bar Facility
Food preparation of snacks as required
Preparation, making of and serving of hot beverages as required
Ensure that the Bar and Bar areas are maintained in a clean state.
Cleaning of Bar equipment

General Duties

Maintain hygiene standards, within the current regulations.
Ensure that all Health & Safety regulations are obeyed.
Decorating
Gardening
Clean and tidy outside of buildings
Collect rubbish from garden areas
Clean forecourt and garage areas
Maintain bin areas
Any other duties as instructed by the Senior Management Team

The post holder will have the ultimate responsibility for all the above functions. He or she will need to possess a caring attitude and a good sense of customer service. An ability to work using one’s own initiative as well as being a good team player is a pre-requisite. Experience gained within a residential environment would be of use.
