Ashesi's mission is to propel an African renaissance by educating ethical, entrepreneurial leaders. Located in Ghana, this private, non-profit university combines a rigorous multidisciplinary core with degree programs in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, and Engineering. The Education Collaborative spearheads a model of collective engagement that promises to significantly reshape higher education outcomes for students. This transformative scale initiative adopts a network approach that fosters trust and collective commitments among higher education leaders and stakeholders to generate sustainable results within the systems they govern and influence. By 2030, The Education Collaborative aims to build a 140-member network that serves at least one million students educating ethical, entrepreneurial leaders capable of creating jobs, advancing industries, and driving economic growth across Africa. Our focal areas reflect the pressing developmental needs and trends in higher education in Africa. Currently covering trending needs in entrepreneurship and employability development, ethics and leadership, and faculty development and research.
**Role Summary**: The Assistant Director of Communication will have oversight to ensure a consistent public image of the Education, serving as external and public relations contact for the initiative. This work will also require liaising with Ashesi University’s Communications Office, as well as other key partners, to ensure brand fit and consistency. Ultimately, the role’s strategic outcome is growth of the Education Collaborative initiative, by creating visibility and value recognition among key stakeholders in higher education administration, teaching and research management, policy, regulation, and funding.
**Reports to**: Executive Director, Education Collaborative
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead the strategic communication and positioning for The Education Collaborative. Leveraging research and regional hub presence to establish The Collaborative as a thought leader in the areas of focus.
- Recommend platforms and events for the Executive Director and other key Executives across institutions in the network to present or share about the Education Collaborative
- Attend events and presentations to represent and present about the Education Collaborative in a PR capacity, or as a stand-in for the Executive Director when needed
- Manage all major communications in and out of the office: Including material for Ashesi executive committee, Ashesi University and Ashesi University Foundation Canada team and boards, Mastercard Foundation, consulting committee, and Hub chairpersons
- Manage the communications team in the Ghana and hub offices, and other third-party contractors and consultants to:
- Oversight on communications across hubs, ensuring consistency and adequate publications to keep relevant stakeholders engaged and informed
- Ensure digital platforms are efficiently and effectively managed
- Ensure relevant content and publications are made on time
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging communication tools to continually enhance the organization's communication efforts.
**Key skills**:

- Experience in relationship management and familiarity with media relations
- Knowledge of graphic design and video editing tools is desirable
