Merton Children Schools & Families Contracts team is looking for an organised individual with good communication skills to join our transport commissioning team.

The post holder will be responsible for arranging, managing and monitoring transport with external service providers for a range of vulnerable clients to and from school and other destinations. You will be liaising with service providers and their staff, families of passengers and service commissioners from our SEN and social work teams on a daily basis and dealing with issues that arise so an ability to prioritise the workload and work with colleagues to resolve problems is essential.

The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills as you will be dealing with a diverse range of people both face to face and over the telephone. Applicants will have experience in operating web based purchasing/financial record systems and also need to demonstrate that they are proficient in using MS Excel (or equivalent) for recording and searching data/undertaking calculations - a good understanding of basic maths is required.

We are situated in the Merton Civic Centre, opposite to Morden Underground Station which is on the Northern Line. We are also a 10 minutes' walk from Morden Road Tram Stop and both Morden South and South Merton Railway Stations.

We are also near Wimbledon which is part of The London Borough of Merton.

In order to provide telephone cover the post holder will need to work flexibly working either 8.00am to 4.00pm or 9.30am to 5.30pm on a rota basis (on alternate weeks)
