Job Description

With a new Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization in place, Fugro is on an exciting journey to accelerate growth and value creation. The purchasing function has a key role to play in this context by delivering the most competitive cost base by building a strong Purchasing organization. To support this, we are looking for a Senior Buyer to join the team in Porchester, reporting directly to the UK Purchasing Manager.

As a Senior Buyer, you will support the UK Purchasing Manager in the Co-Ordination and development of all aspects of purchasing, providing an interface between customer and supplier. Ensure the supply chain process is continually monitored and reviewed to ensure that all available process efficiencies are identified and implemented to achieve maximum cost benefit to the company
- You will be responsible for the procurement of goods and service
- Provide guidance and support to buying staff
- Create, maintain & continually keep up to date with the purchasing/supply information database.
- Create and maintain the approved suppliers list and associated correspondence
- Coach and Mentor less experience members of staff
- Champion and drive SCM initiatives.

Who You’ll Be Working With

Internally you will work closely with Fugro UK SCM team, Business and Service Line leaders, Commercial and Contracts teams. QHSSE teams to ensure supplier and compliance requirements. IT on management and roll out of the Supply Chain support systems. Finance SSC. Fugro Global Supply Chain teams.

Externally you will work with clients and suppliers worldwide.

Here’s What a Typical Day Would Be Like
- Create purchase orders and upkeep of company requisitions and queries
- Assist in the development of the purchasing team ensuring effective performance and productivity of the purchasing sections, develop key skills and assisting with queries.
- Assist and monitor the Purchasing teams departmental KPI’s and support where needed.
- Liaise with management on suppliers that can meet the standards.
- Monitor the accuracy of records, documents, and communications in accordance with company procedures
- Maintain the purchasing/supply chain database
- Monitor and review supplier performance, seeking new sources of supply
- Liaising with internal accounts department, supporting any queries, and monitoring information.
- Actively engaged with the business and develop key relationships with business stakeholders and suppliers. #Obtain quotes and negotiate the best costing, deliver & quality for any goods or services, dictated by the role.

Who we’re looking for

Essential
- Previous experience as a purchaser/buyer 3 - 8 years
- Strong Communication skills to nurture strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in technical sourcing
- Actively results driven with a passion for success
- Good team player with the ability to work well alongside peers, colleagues, managers, and partners
- Financial Acumen
- Supports both Internal and external suppliers by being attuned to their needs, adding value and builds strong relationships.

Desirable
- 0 - 3 years as a team lead
- CIPS or relevant SCM or procurement specific qualification tor training.
