**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
To provide an effective, proactive and efficient advisory service and decisions in relation to Police and Fire establishment and strength

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Responsible for the accuracy, consistency and quality of establishment and strength data held on the HR system and challenge any deviation from it.
- Responsible for the day to day management and ongoing maintenance of establishment and strength data for the organisations, having ownership of establishment blueprints.
- Audit, validate and reconcile establishment and strength data with Basic Command Unit/Departmental Senior Management Team members. Reconcile establishment and strength data held in the HR system with Finance, Payroll and Resource Management Unit
- Ensure the establishment and strength data collated enables the production of statistical information and reports, to meet both internal and external requirements.
- Attend meetings to assist in the resolution of queries and challenges relating to establishment and strength data. Establish a distribution schedule for dissemination of establishment and strength reports as required by internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure the security of all confidential information in accordance with Force policies, including Data Protection Principles and the Government Protective Marking Scheme.
- To provide optimal solutions and options to deliver the appropriate workforce required in a timely fashion to deliver the business.
- Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job.

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**:

- An ability to work independently, assess priorities and required actions and react appropriately, using your initiative and taking responsibility for decisions of a complex nature within the parameters of your remit to address customer enquiries, technical and staff issues.
- High degree of computer literacy commensurate with the level of the role, including an expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products especially Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint and data retrieval and report generation from HR Management Information Systems, with the ability to analyse and interpret HR data.
- Ability to present and explain management information to a non-technical audience. Highly developed verbal and interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, possessing the ability to negotiate with senior staff to resolve conflict issues.
- Ability to analyse and prepare statistical data and information for both internal and external requirements. The preparation of management level reports and ability to deliver presentations to people of all levels in the organisation.
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
- Sound analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience of working as part of a small team and can demonstrate the ability to build effective working relationships within this team as well as with members of other teams.
