You will support and lead on assembling expenditure reports, ensuring key messages are presented in an effective manner. Good analytical, communication, spreadsheet and organisational skills will be essential.

You will support a broad range of finance projects and use your skills to suggest improvements in areas such as the development of a modified finance reporting system, providing comprehensive financial analysis and raising key areas of concern to the linemanager.

**Hours - 8-4 or 9-5 Monday - Friday**

**Contract length - 12 weeks with the view to extend**

**Pay rate - £27 per hour**

**Location - Leeds City Centre with option to work remotely**

As a Senior Finance Analyst, your main duties will include:
**Financial Analysis & Interpretation**
- Providing trend analysis and interpretation of NIHR financial information using spreadsheet formula and functions;
- Highlighting key areas of concern, evidence of improvement and advice on issues that require further investigation to the Management Group as appropriate;
- Preparing results, analysis and recommendations and presenting at key meetings with finance managers;
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills.

**Financial Performance Management**
- Providing input to enhance the quarterly financial reporting process to maximise the output of the financial data;
- Summarising the key outputs and trends in a report to be shared with the Local Clinical Research Network (LCRN) Management group and the CRNCC Executive and Senior management team;
- Supporting Network and other colleagues to develop on-going value for money reviews and cost efficiency evaluations.

**Financial Modelling**
- Produce various scenarios for the funding model whilst ensuring the implications of the scenarios are made clear for consideration;
- Supporting the preparation of papers as and when required;
- Supporting the strategic planning work that underpins the allocation of resources across the NIHR CRN.

**Reporting**
- Administering large datasets, including MS SQL Server Databases;
- Support and develop SQL queries;
- Supporting the update of financial or other guidance (e.g. NIHR CRN Performance and Operating Framework) for the LCRNs accordingly, and working alongside LCRNs with their improvement plans.

**What will you bring to the role?**

As the Senior Finance Analyst you will have:

- A full or part CCAB accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or relevant experience;
- Excellent analytical skills;
- Evidence of delivering results to tight deadlines, including ability to prioritise own work and meet deadlines;
- Evidence of financial modelling, including scenario costing and sensitivity analysis;
- Attention to detail and conscientious, enthusiastic, flexible and proactive approach to work;
- Experience of having difficult conversations with stakeholders;
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels and from a variety of backgrounds;
- Excellent presentation and written skills, including report writing;
- The ability to take responsibility for an entire project or piece of work and deliver a positive outcome, proactively arriving at practical and innovative solutions to any problems and challenges;
- Experience of providing financial training to non-financial managers;
- Evidence of an ability to work effectively as part of a team, along with self-motivation and the ability to work on your own initiative;
- The ability to display tact and political skills;
- The ability to maintain confidentiality;
- A willingness to develop new skills and undergo further training as necessary.
