**Job Purpose **To be responsible for caretaking throughout the School

**Responsible to **Estates Manager

**Objectives **To ensure that there is efficient and timely provision of caretaking throughout the school.

**Core Responsibilities**
- To be a main key holder for the School and a point of contact for out-of-hours emergencies.
- To be responsible for the daily inspection of school premises and ensure that no hazards prohibit the safe use of the buildings or grounds, reporting any damage to the Estates Manager.
- To carry out and record the weekly testing of fire alarms.
- To check and record the condition and proper operation of emergency lighting systems and report any defects to the Estates Manager.
- To clear and grit pathways, as required.
- To maintain the School grounds and gardens.
- To carry out minor repairs to the School buildings or equipment. This may include, amongst other things, a range of joinery, plastering, painting tasks and other minor works.
- To ensure that the buildings and grounds are adequately lit by replacing light bulbs and ordering new supplies.
- To undertake and record a weekly check of School minibuses and report any defects to the Estates Manager.
- To be responsible for the cleaning of any accidental spillages in the absence of any cleaners on site.
- To set up and clear the dining hall, as required.
- To move furniture and equipment, as required, within the regulations for safe handling.
- To set up halls for assemblies and special functions, as required.
- To take out refuse bins for collection and replace.
- To carry out a weekly inspection of play equipment and artificial playing surfaces.
- To check and record domestic hot water temperatures and carry out routine maintenance of hot water systems in accordance with the school’s Legionella Safety Policy and Risk Assessments.
- To assist the Estates Manager with arranging and supervising work undertaken by external contractors.
- To ensure that deliveries to the School are distributed to the correct place, as required.
- To be available to work on all four sites of the School, as required by the Estates Manager.
- To maintain good relationships with staff, parents, pupils and visitors to the School.

**Success Criteria**

Provision of an efficient and timely caretaking service throughout the School.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: £10.52 per hour
