**What you’ll be doing**:
We are currently recruiting a single-skilled Electrician technician to be based at our Thames Gateway Advanced Water Treatment Works.
We are offering between £34,000 - £45,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. A company van is also provided.
You will support the operations and control room team in ensuring the overall operation of the site to treat brackish water abstracted from the river Thames and produce wholesome water fit for drinking into the London water network.Thames Gateway AWTW isthe only water production site in Thames Water that utilizes desalination as part of its water treatment process.
You will be working within multiple disciplined teams that follow a robust maintenance plan as well as getting involved in installation projects, mechanical fault finding, project commissioning and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24hours a day, 365 days a year.
**Specific responsibilities will be**:

- Working on various stages of water treatment and their associated equipment, three-phase motors, motor control centres including variable speed drives, power distribution equipment, actuator and experience with air circuit breakers would be desirable
- If you are a dual-skilled mechanical & electrical technician you will also work on pumps, gearboxes, valves and penstocks, chemical handling and dosing equipment, air compressor, pneumatic plant, and sampling equipment
- Investigate process plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents
- Carry out scheduled, planned maintenance work on electrical or mechanical and electrical equipment
- Provide technical advice to the wider team and contractors and provide training or support for technical trainees if required
- Participate in a 24/7 out of hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment
- Additionally, you will be required to undertake health and safety checks and take ownership of your own and your colleague's health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager and resolving them yourself where possible

**What you should bring to the role**:

- Experience in working on large industrial plants and mechanical systems.
- BNC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in electrical engineering or mechanical and electrical engineering is essential
- Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship. If electrically trained, the 18th edition qualification will also be beneficial.
- HV awareness would be beneficial but not essential
- Be physically capable to carry out the duties of the role as you will work in confined spaces and use breathing apparatus with successful completion of the appropriate training
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are critical
- **A valid driving license is essential**
