**Street Rangers Job Description**

**Job Function**:
Street Rangers are the front face of Ipswich Central, the BID organisation, and as such are the ambassadors for the town centre. They must always conduct themselves professionally in order that their presence will reflect positively on the town.

Street Rangers are based in offices at Lower Brook Street and operate in Ipswich town centre. They may be required to travel to the other town for operational and training purposes.

**Introduction**:
Locus is a place-management organisation managed via a number of complimentary channels. Ipswich Central (IC) is the Business Improvement District (BID) for the town centre and represents circa 450 businesses which operate there; Wolsey 550 CIC celebrates the birth of Ipswich’s most famous son; All About Ipswich is the visitor website; the Eastern BIDs Network brings together organisations like Ipswich Central throughout East Anglia; and, in its own right, Locus Management advises other locations, primarily on BID development and management.

**Responsibilities**:
In this role the main duties can be summarised as follows:

- Must clear Police vetting or similar as required by the Company.
- Provision of business support in accordance with current Covid-19 guidance.
- Implementing daily road closures to aid in upholding current Covid-19 guidance.
- Communication with members of the public, providing directions, advice and a general welcoming presence.
- Liaison with businesses, handling customer enquiries as they arise or referring these on to the relevant person/organisation.
- Promotion of responsible citizenship in respect of litter, graffiti and related issues.
- Assistance in the reduction of business crime, thus improving the perception of the town centre as safe place in which to be.
- Assistance with the serving of Exclusion Notices.
- Provision of an extensive and daily presence around the town (and outskirts which fall within the Business Improvement District) in all weathers to maximise contact with businesses in the area. This is to be carried out on foot or company cycle. This presence should aid impromptu communication with businesses and members of the public.
- Completion of any cleaning, painting and repair work together with general ‘housekeeping’ tasks including the removal of graffiti, stains, weeds, rubbish etc, as directed and appropriate.
- Removal of ‘sharps’, including broken glass and syringes as appropriate (by way of notifying the relevant authority).
- Report of damage/incidents to the appropriate authority which an employee believes may constitute a Health & Safety issue.
- Communication to members of the public where they are in breach of the laws, rules and bylaws.
- Issue of fines and fixed penalty notices, in accordance with the Police Accreditation scheme, and completion of statements and attendance at court in the pursuit of these.
- Liaison and operation alongside the Police, Council Officers and external contractors in pursuit of employee’s duties.
- Maintenance and growth of relationships with Levy Payers and other Town Centre Businesses.
- Use of appropriate tools and equipment, including security radios.
- Maintenance of methodical and accurate records of required information. This may be electronically or by completion of written Police Statements if required.
- Adherence to the uniform policy (including the wearing of stab vest and other uniform items as issued) and adherence to the company’s general dress code.
- Attendance of training courses (at the Company’s expense) as and when required by the Company to achieve a satisfactory level of attainment.
- Strict attention to personal responsibilities in the areas of risk management and health, safety and welfare, both in terms of self and others.
- Completion of site audits of the town-link radio systems, as required and associated documentation.
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures as set out in the Staff Handbook.
- Completion of any other duties as deemed appropriate and delegated by the Line Manager from time to time.

**Terms of Appointment**

This is envisaged as a full-time post and, on that basis, will attract a salary of £24,800 per annum (£23,000 during probationary period).

Holiday - 20 days per annum

Pension - Statutory minimum, after 3 months
