Fixed Term Consultant Oncologist Breast Malignancies - 12 mths

This advert is for a full or part-time Fixed Term Oncology Consultantpost with an interest inBreast malignanciesjoining an expanding team of excellent Oncologists in Sussex.

This post is to work with clinical commitments in Eastbourne looking after patients with breast cancer and become integrated into the multidisciplinary teams for these tumour sites and working with a team of oncologists who work at these hospital sites already.

The “Sussex Cancer Centre Oncology Service” is a team of oncologists and a mixed workforce of health care professionals who are employed through University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust but working across the county providing clinical and medical oncology care to the whole of Sussex. This includes provision of clinical non-surgical cancer treatments across 5 hospital locations with outpatient clinics and chemotherapy activity in Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton, Haywards Heath and Worthing and with radiotherapy facilities in Brighton and Eastbourne.

**The clinical duties of the post include the following**:
Outpatient Clinics
MDM attendance
Chemotherapy prescribing
Recruitment to clinical trials
Clinical admin generated from patients seen and liaison with other AHPs, and primary care. Clinical Governance meetings
Ward reviews when appropriate

**On Call Commitment**: Currently being reviewed but likely 1 in 17-18

The appointed post holder will be working as part of a team of oncologists looking after the nonsurgical aspects of patients with breast Malignancies in Sussex with this post based in
Eastbourne.

This post will share the cancer case load with the Brighton based clinical oncologists ( Drs Bloomfield /
Simcock ) while the pan sussex provision is worked through.

There are regular opportunities to work with the wider teams in Sussex with support group meetings and peer review discussions, protocol development and updates.

The appointee will be part of the Multidisciplinary team, working closely with the breast surgeons, clinical nurse specialists and other team members with regular MDM attendance.
