A Maternity Matron

**Main duties of the job**:
The post holder will provide midwifery leadership to the clinical areas and contribute to the operational management within Maternity, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources and the development and maintenance of the highest standards of care and efficient service delivery. They will be working closely with the Senior Community Matron and the Consultant midwife.

- First degree / or equivalent knowledge and skill
- Relevant post registration courses in speciality
- Recogised teaching and assessing qualification

- NLS or equivalent
**Desirable criteria**:
- Educated to Masters level or working towards
- Evidence of management and leadership development
- Professional Midwifery Advocate
**Experience**:

- Current experience of line management of staff
- Evidence of teaching and developing junior staff both formally and informally
- Evidence of leading a change of management initiative which improved maternity care
- Proven experience of managing budgetary resources
- Evidence of managing employment relation issues

- Demonstrate advanced midwifery clinical expertiset
- Evidence of political awareness and professional issues in midwifery
- Evidence of managing and sustaining change

- Thorough understanding and knowledge of key indicators of excellent quality care
